Clean the Forerunner and the heart rate monitor with a cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. Dry thoroughly. Avoid the chemical cleaning products and solvents that can damage plastic components. Do not store the predecessor where prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures may occur (such as in the trunk of a car), permanent damage can occur. The information of the user, such as history, locations, and tracks, remains indefinitely in the memory of the unit without the need for external power. Make a backup copy of important user data transferring to Garmin Connect or Garmin Training Center. See page 9.

The Forerunner is waterproof to IEC 60529 IPX7 standard. It can withstand immersion in 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. A prolonged immersion can cause damage to the unit. After the dive, be sure to dry and air dries the unit before use or load it. The Forerunner is not intended to be used for swimming. Swimming or prolonged immersion in water may cause a short circuit in the unit, which can in rare cases cause a sunburn or slight skin irritation in the area of the unit. The actual battery life depends on the use of the following elements: GPS, backlight, the connection of computer ANT + and time spent in power saving mode. On a fully charged battery, the Forerunner should last a week if you train for 30 minutes a day with GPS and the Forerunner is in energy saving mode during the remaining time. On a fully charged battery, the Forerunner lasts up to 2 weeks in power save mode. A fully charged battery, the Forerunner can last up to 8 hours with GPS on.
